Нетрудно сопоставить, что если линия up постоянно будет пребывать рядом с максимальными значениями, а линия down → 0, то на рынке доминируют «быки». Если же линия down будет все время пребывать рядом с максимальным значением шкалы, а линия up → 0, это свидетельствует о преобладании «медведей». Если в продолжение такого же промежутка времени ценой не будут обновлены минимальные экстремумы, а направление цены будет все время только снизу-вверх, значение линии down будет составлять «0». Линия up является линией измерения числа периодов относительно момента возникновения на ценовом графике самых высоких вершин согласно стобальной шкале.
